American Kestrel

“American Kestrel ” black and white scrimshaw on ancient walrus tusk ivory artifact by David Smith. Note the composition by Smith on this one. The proud kestrel is framed within the brighter white of the artifact, creating a framing effect. Ivory was used as a digging tool or spear point hundreds of years ago in the Northern Bering Sea area. From the collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us.
