Charles W. Morgan Drying Sails

$2,850.00

Black and white scrimshaw on a whale’s tooth by Gerry Dupont. Quite impressive work on a nice sized tooth, 1.0 pound for those interested in weight. Dupont has an amazing amount of detail in this one as well as capturing a sense of mood and character. The caption on the back reads: “Four men in a dory take a leisurely row in New Bedford harbor to better view the Charles W. Morgan, just arrived, drying sail.” Nice colored tooth, not many of these around these days.
