Diving Bull Sperm Whale and Clipper Ship black and white scrimshaw on ancient walrus tusk ivory artifact by Gerry Dupont. Fine work by veteran scrimshander, Dupont. Looks like the artifact was used as some type of digging tool. Rare ivory.Ancient walrus tusk raw ivory approximately 500 – 1500 years old. Excavated from ancient hunting camps in the Northern Bering Sea area, this ivory has beautiful color (the result of minerals that have been absorbed into the ivory over hundreds and hundreds of years). Many pieces were used as tools and bear the marks of ancient man.
