Victorian Woman with Chair on Antique Whale’s Tooth

$4,000.00 $2,000.00

Black and white scrimshaw on antique whale’s tooth by an unknown scrimshaw artist. Absolutely beautiful rich patina on this antique tooth. Must have come from an older bull sperm whale judging by the size and rounded tip. Solid tooth with no checks or cracks. Weighs one pound, 11 ounces. Probably done between 1860 to 1880. Note the tiny dots outlining the figure and chair, indicative of much of the antique scrimshaw of the period. A keeper! From the extensive collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us.
