Caribou on the March

“Caribou on the March” color scrimshaw on ancient walrus tusk ivory by well regarded scrimshander, Dennis Sims. These caribou are moving to even better feeding grounds. Don’t know if that is Rudolph leading them, however. Caribou are the only deer with both male and female having antlers. Beautiful piece of ivory with a perfectly matching piece of walrus used as the base. Sims has a flare with his bases. This is from the collection of one of our long time clients who is no longer with us. Nice work by Sims on this one.
