Constitution vs Guerriere
$1,350.00
“Constitution vs Guerriere” color scrimshaw on ancient mammoth tusk ivory by Yoko Gaydos. Battle where the term “Old Ironsides” was first coined after a British cannonball bounced off of her sides. Look closely and you can see the names of the two vessels on the sterns. Really like the way scrimshander, Gaydos, created the scroll work on the sides. Very well done. She was a well known scrimshander working out of Maui for several yeas. Her work is seldom seen on the market today as most collectors are loath to part with a prized piece. This is from the collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us. Should not last long.
