Mystic Seaport

“Mystic Seaport” Panoramic scene of famed Mystic Seaport done by award winning scrimshander, Gerry Duppnt, on walrus tusk ivory. Known for his dock scenes, coveted by collectors, Dupont has outdone himself this time. The caption on the back side tells it all in a concise manner:  MYSTIC SEAPORT  “Little sailboats glide by the Charles W. Morgan and Joseph Perry on a calm summer morning in Mystic Seaport”. However, that just begins to explain this incredible work. Take time and study each and every building and structure portrayed. One can discern the tiles on the roofs and detail in each window of each structure. Amazing amount of precise work. Really like the masts on the right side of the tusk conveying the number of vessels docked. Obviously, this is a complete walrus tusk that weighs 3 lbs. 7 oz! This would be the centerpiece of any serious collections. Scenes such as this on a complete tusk rarely show up today.
