:”Battle of Lake Erie” fought during the War of 1812 on September 10, 1813, this stunning victory by the American vessels over the British changed the course of the war. U.S. Commander Oliver Hazard Perry’s famous quote at the conclusion of the battle is remember today. “We have met the enemy and they are ours”. Excellent work by Dupont, as usual. Difficult cut of mammoth ivory with the severe curve, but Dupont made it look easy. Really admire this one and it would be an excellent addition to any scrimshaw collection.
