:Humpback Cow and Calf” black and white scrimshaw on ancient walrus tusk ivory artifact created by James Lee. Ivory used as a digging tool by natives in the northern Bering Sea area hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Lee has cleverly done an above and below scene. Humpbacks are making way for the quickly moving whaler. Interesting addition with the carved mammoth bead at the base of the stand. From the collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us.
