Le Crepuscule (after Bouguereau)

Color scrimshaw and ancient mammoth tusk ivory by Terry Nelson. This stunning piece was created by Terry Nelson in 1991 and has not  been available on the open market since that date. This is from the collection of one of our long time clients who is no longer with us. It is based on the original painting by the famed French artist, Bouguereau. Nelson’s stipple work in this is beyond incredible. This is done on a very rare piece of flat mammoth tusk ivory taken from a very large solid tusk. The grandillo stand is a work of art itself. All in all, this is an extremely rare work that would be the centerpiece of any serious scrimshaw collection.
