Playful Humpback Whales

“Playful Humpback Whales” black and white scrimshaw on ancient walrus tusk ivory artifact by Steve Williams. Excellent composition by Williams on this little gem. This was sold by Scrimshaw Gallery in 1988 to one of our collectors who is no longer with us. Williams always did first rate work and his pieces are prized by knowing collectors today. Ivory was used as some type of tool by ancient natives in the Northern Bering Sea area hundreds of years ago. Stand made by the late Ken Fredericks. Everything wqrks on this one
