Antique Scrimshaw Woman and Child

$575.00

“Antique Scrimshaw Woman and Child” from the collection of one our clients who is no longer with us. Created by an unknown artist. Judging from the patina, it was probably created between 1860 to 1900. Probably copied from an illustration of that era. The larger female seems to have a walking cane in her left hand. The attire may represent two nuns, one older than the other, a novice. Interesting. Slight chip on the backside of the tip. The collector made the stand for this one. He acquired the scrimshaw in 1995, so there is good value here.
